I trained in abstract mathematics at NISER, then traded the blackboard for the field: a year with RESQ CT, rescuing, capturing and tracking wildlife. Now I bring the two together, building mathematical models of ecosystems.
Research interests
Mathematical ecology and spatial ecosystem dynamics
Early warning signals and critical transitions
Collective behaviour and emergence
Integration of field data (GIS, radio telemetry) with ecological theory
Human–wildlife conflict and its mitigation

In the field
A year as a wildlife field technician with RESQ Charitable Trust, Pune, 2025 – 2026.
Every day in the field brought a new challenge, yet the long days never felt hard alongside the craziest, most inventive and most fun colleagues and mentors I have ever known. Thank you for countless memories.
DeerSeveral deer species captured and moved to Sahyadri Tiger Reserve to build up its prey base, and to the wildlife sanctuary at Ambajogai to re-establish their populations.
CrocodilesCrocodiles translocated to Melghat Tiger Reserve, along with many rescues and releases.
TigersThree dispersing tigers tracked across three states by radio, thermal drone and on foot.
LeopardsLeopards monitored, captured, rescued and released across the human-dominated landscapes of Pune and Junnar.
CoexistenceHuman–wildlife conflict mitigation alongside the Forest Department, and awareness sessions for communities that share their spaces with wildlife.
RescuesRescues across the city, from birds to civets, jackals and rusty-spotted cats, and technical rope-access rescues from cliffs, wells and dams.
