Mathematical Simulations

Here you’ll find my simulations in a form you can play with: move a slider and watch the model answer. Each one comes with a short note on the theory and a link to the full write-up of the project. Choose a collection below to open it.

Deterministic population dynamics

Models from my Population Dynamics project, from one species to two.

  1. 1 Discrete-time logistic model One equation, Xt+1 = RmXt(1 − Xt): from a steady population to chaos. Open
  2. 2 Continuous-time logistic model Growth in continuous time, and what too large a time step does to it. Open
  3. 3 Harvesting with Holling responses Hunting or fishing a population: tipping points, collapse and recovery. Open
  4. 4 Lotka–Volterra competition Two species sharing resources: who wins, and when can both survive? Open
  5. 5 Consumer–resource model Species competing for one resource: the lowest R* wins. Open
  6. 6 Prey–predator models Predators and prey in cycles, from Lotka–Volterra to Holling responses. Open
